Hi, I’m Lu.
I grew up in a small town in Derbyshire, England, but i’m now living in Western Australia.
For most of my twenties, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to. I built a career, bought a home and got married. At the start of 2025, I was a solicitor, a homeowner and a wife. I thought I had my life pretty figured out and all the boxes ticked.
Then came the plot twist.
A few months later, I was getting divorced, selling my home and grieving the future I had spent the best part of a decade building.
But somewhere between trying to hold onto the life I’d planned and wondering what on earth I was going to do next, I realised something: Maybe losing the life I thought I wanted wasn’t the end of my story. Maybe it was the opportunity to start writing a different one. Maybe I wasn’t starting from scratch. Maybe I was finally getting the chance to write a story that actually felt like mine.
So, I did something completely out of character.
I quit my corporate career, sold almost everything I owned and booked a one-way flight to Australia.
Australia became the beginning of something new.
Now, I’m figuring out what happens when you stop following the expected path and start following your curiosity instead. I’m embracing solo travel, chasing new experiences and trying to build a life centred around the things that have always made me happiest: travel, photography, creativity, storytelling and connection.
My simple pleasures are coffee, sunsets, good music and a cold beer (or two). These days, you’ll usually find me swimming in the sea, getting wonderfully lost, carrying my camera everywhere I go and convincing myself that booking everything last minute is a personality trait rather than a character flaw.
This blog is my way of documenting it all.
The places I visit. The people I meet. The adventures that go to plan… and the ones that absolutely don’t. The beautiful moments, the funny ones and everything in between.
I travel because I’m endlessly curious. I capture content because I never want to forget how places felt. And I write because some stories deserve more… don’t we all.
LuLu Land isn’t about ticking countries off a list or pretending every destination is life-changing. It’s about collecting stories worth telling. The people who unexpectedly become your friends. The places that quietly leave their mark. The adventures that don’t quite go to plan. The tiny moments that end up meaning the most. And what happens when you stop following the route you thought you were supposed to take and start trusting the detours instead.
I want to tell stories that make you want to book the flight, take the detour, try something new or simply see the world a little differently. Whether you’re looking for a travel tip, inspiration for your next adventure or just a reminder that it’s never too late to change direction, I hope you find something here that stays with you.
I’m still figuring out exactly where this next chapter will take me, but I’ve learnt that sometimes the best adventures begin when you have absolutely no idea what’s coming next.
So, welcome.
This is me, starting again, seeing where the road takes me and probably taking far too many photos along the way.
I’m glad you’re here.
